Because Art Can Create Community

While a number of school districts around the country focus explicitly on hard science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), another type of education is growing in popularity. STEAM is an approach that combines science, technology, engineering, the arts and math to guide student development. Through STEAM, students are empowered to take thoughtful risks, engage in meaningful activities, embrace collaboration and work through the creative process.

By developing curriculum with the Whole Student in Mind, the Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences gives students the foundation and skills needed to be successful in life. One of those ways is to help them realize they’re part of a larger community through service.

Empty Bowls is a national grassroots movement designed to support food-related charities. Since 1994, PSAS students have hand-crafted ceramic bowls and sold them to raise money for struggling area soup kitchens and underfunded homeless shelters. Stack was honored to create a video showcasing not only their talents but their hearts. And raising almost $200,000 for charity is something that deserves to be celebrated.
