Speak Volumes Without
Saying a Word

Great design is more than just a clever combination of art and science. It actually inspires real emotion.
That was our goal when YOUnique asked us for help promoting their Brené Brown event. A professor, lecturer, author, and podcast host, Brown became known as America’s Therapist after her TED talk “The Power Of Vulnerability” went viral and became one of the most watched TED talks ever. And those are just a few reasons why she got her own Netflix special in 2019.
Brown is a firm believer in counseling. She’s big on naming emotions—identifying the culprit diminishes its power, she says. That’s why we focused on developing an event program to embody that idea at her speaking engagements.
Each attendee was given a booklet. A woman’s face was on the front cover but was partially hidden; the booklet was bound with a wrap that covered the woman’s mouth. Attendees needed to break that binding to open the program, symbolically giving voice to the stories inside.
Because sometimes it takes a little help to find a voice.
